The storm brewing between young rapper, Olamide and producer -label boss I.D Cabasa seems to be on the low key but reliable sources have revealed that all is not well between the duo.
'I'm still with CODED Tunes', Olamide says but sources confirm that the young rapper has dumped the label for the popular Yes Records, which is run by Anthony Nwakile, Olamide's present manager.
'Olamide doesn't come to Cabasa's studio like he used to anymore. Nowadays, he comes once in a while', a close friend to ID Cabasa tells NET in anonymity.
But another source insists Olamide still comes over to Cabasa's studio because his deal with Coded Tunes has not expired.
Until now, former rapper and CODED Tunes artiste 2Phat had acted as Olamide's manager after he broke off from Toni Payne's management. But in recent times, Olamide has not been seen with him.
NET placed a call to ID Cabasa who denied the news and stressed that Olamide is still signed to CODED Tunes. We then placed a call to 2Phat and asked him the same questions. He didn't divulge any information but passed the phone to ID Cabasa who sounded very upset.
He not only declined to comment further on the matter, but threatened to insult our reporter. 'I'm fasting and I have not eaten all today, whatever I say to you will come to pass', Cabasa angrily said.
Olamide's manager speaking with NET however confirmed his departure; 'I don't want to say anything about it. I am only his manager. I managed him while he was in CODED Tunes and even afterwards'.
Olamide's latest video for the recent single 'Unite' directed by Godfather Productions in South Africa doesn't have CODED Tunes name or emblem as it was in previous videos.
NET reliably gathered that Olamide has also setup his own crew called YBNL (Yahoo Boy No Laptop) with rappers Kida Kudz (winner of Peak Talent Show season 2) and 2Kriss. They have since released their first two singles 'Abeg o' and 'Road to YBNL'.
It will be recalled that the label, Yes Records in 2009 signed five artistes including CODED Tunes boss ID Cabasa and affiliate Jahbless who went on to release albums 'ID.ENTITY' and 'Rebirth' respectively.
